:)

Go on. Be a tiger. The Accenture ad is a reminder ad and it advertises consulting. It has a logo and a slogan to make people recognize the company. In this essay it will be explained how the ad uses rhetorical devices: visual and literary. It will also describe how the ad uses A.I.D.A. to  make the viewer’s desire the service.

Oh my god, it’s Tiger Woods. The ad has a celebrity in the ad and it attracts people’s attention. Tiger Woods is a pro golf player who is known all over the world and he attracts attention. If there was a normal person in the ad the ad would attract less attention and be less effective. If you know who he is and sees him in an ad you would probably stop and read about it. If it was a normal person you would probably not notice it or not care and just pass by. Celebrities are always in the center of the attention in their area so why not attract attention in ads.

Oh really, is that even possible? The ad offers an opportunity to become a high performer. It develops interests that you can become a high performer. It also features a celebrity, which make this ad a transference ad. People would want to be as successful as Tiger Woods and it even says “Go on. Be a tiger” which clearly indicates that they will assist you in becoming as successful as Tiger Woods.

“To see how we can help you defy the obstacle and become a high-performance business…” This is what develops desire and it is desirable because who would not want to defy its obstacles and become a high-performance business.  They tell you that you can pass all your obstacles and become high-performance. It is something any business would want, an obstacle free business. No more trouble and struggle. They tell you that they will help you avoid it and therefor it attracts desire.

High-performer, high-performer and high-performer. Repetition is used in this ad. The word ‘high’ is emphasized in this ad and is something that makes the viewer desire Accenture’s assistance. High-performer is something we all want to become at a certain degree, so if Accenture could give us High-performance, there is no good reason to say no in most cases. Help from Accenture and you will be sure to have high-performance since they used the word so much.

What, I can read more?! The website, of course, it is an essential tool to attract desire. With the website you can further read about the brand and the brand will be even more desirable than it was with only the ad. The website opens a new door for the viewer: old and new ads, more information on how to acquire their help, costs, time, etc. This enables you to expand your feelings about the whole company and it may/may not be even more desirable than it was before. The website can change the viewer’s perspective and opinion about the company a lot.

This is all I need. The website again is a tool to move to the next stage. The website is the source of all the contact information of the company. It tells you who to call and what the company will do. The website moves you to action and it is what drives the ad to

The ad starts out with attracting the viewer with a celebrity and also the placing of the celebrity is within the rule of third. The ad moves on to developing interest with what the product or idea can do and how it benefits you. In this ad it tells you that your business can become high-performance which attracts your interest. It makes you desire it with Mainly transference and repetition.

The toyota advert uses colour theory to drag the attention to itd main purpose. The advert wants you to look at "aim" which the cars main attribute is and what will make you buy it. Since the environment is a big matter Toyota adverts cars whic are more friendly towards the environment. They 'aim' to release "zero emission" and the colour red is a strong color which drags your attention to the purpose of the advertisement. Toyota is environmental friendly and they show it wit strong colours.

I think that is about the right spot. The rule of three has four important areas and the toyota advert uses parts of those areas. The Toyota advert uses the rule of three where they have put vital parts right at the intersection. The 'aim' is right at one of the four intersections and 'zero emission' in the middle of it. It is the first that you look at and with other rhetorical devices such as colour it is strongly brought out to its audience what the purpose is. Aim towards zero emission with Toyota.

As long as they see the brand. Toyota uses hierarchy to get to the audience with the most important things first. The font is used as a hierarchy to bring forward what they need to see and then what is not as important. "Aim:zero emission" is written with a big font for the audience to see as well as Toyota. "zero emission" is enough for someone to understand that the advert has something to do with less emission, the environment. When you relate that with Toyota you know that it is about cars and it is easy and fast for the audience to see what it is about even though they only see it for a few seconds. Hierarchy prioritized the two most important aspects and showed them explicitly. Toyotas ad can be understood under a glimpse of an eye

Colour theory
http://www.duplichecker.com/color theory
Oh so colourful. The colour theory is a rhetorical device. The colour theory is used to drag its attention to a specific word or symbol and to emphasize a meaning or message. The colour red have different meanings to different people but in most cases it is well known. Warnings signs or police sirens is a well known sign of danger or right and wrong. Colour theory is used to persuade the viewer to believe it is of greater importance or just emphasize its importance.

Perspective
http://www.enotes.com/topic/Rhetorical_device
Now We can see it from up here. The perspective of a viewer is when you look from a special point of view. The rhetorical device perspective is used to convey its viewer to see a matter or problem from a different view. If you write about the problems that will come in the future and that they will affect you it will give you a new perspective of a matter. The rhetorical device perspective persuades you in new belief or deceives you in thinking of something you never thought of before and give you a new perspective of the problem. Perspective is a strong weapon in terms of advertising since it can change your interpretation.

Contrast
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contrast_(vision)
This one is black and that is white. The rhetoricL contrast device is the opposite of two things which makes them look stronger. The contrast rhetorical device is used to make one of two opposing ideas to emphasize it and make one look stronger. The environment was once beautiful and in the future it will b sad and ugly. Trees will die, unlike once there were forrest almost everywhere. This would remind people how it used to be and that it was nicer back then. If I had a picture of the past and the present the past would look nicer than if it was alone. Contrasting enhances the meaning of an idea.
Hierarchy
http://writingcenter.colostate.edu/rhetcon.html
Hierarchy is a listing method which is a structure were importance go from top to bottom. The rhetorical hierarchy device is used to list importance of the matters and the first the viewer will see is the most important. When something have a big font and then smaller fonts the bigger font is perceived as more important. This is used to make the viewer look at most important thing first.the rhetorical hierarchy device is used to display so the first thing its viewer see is the one of greatest importance.

Rule of thirds
http://www.digital-photography-school.com/rule-of-thirds
Rule of thirds is the breaking up an image into three parts. The rules of three is the three blocks intersections where the viewers focus and look at the first. Research show that in msn cases your eyes focus on parts of images differently. By putting the most important item in where the rules of three counts the message will be brought through better.

Struck by fear. The adverts scares its audience with statements and questions. This advert tries to frighten the viewer so they will cut down on the alcohol. The ad says you recycle a lot and it is a picture of a box with beer bottles. In other words it states that you drink too much and then asks the question "how much is too much?". Teenage Brain

Teenagers behave the way they do for a reason. New research proves that teenagers have mood swings, bad work in school and organise bad for a reason. Research show that teenagers act the way they do because of their underdeveloped brain. Teenagers brain is not yet fully grown, fully modified and it has needs which will be dicussed. The adolescent brain does not have the so called centre of operation.

The centre of operation is the part in the brain which determines how well you plan, organise and handle situations.  Because teenagers does not have the centre of operation they have mood swings, organise poorly and plan bad. Teenagers have unexpected mood swings and horrible planning of when to do their homework.
A lot of teenagers freak out for small things and can become furious for nothing. It is because they miss the part of their brain which handles these problems. The centre of operation is what tells us how to do stuff and it improves your ability to see the consequences of problems. School work and teenagers ability to learn stuff is also affected by something called Rapid eye movement sleep. (REM sleep)

Rapid eye movement sleep is one of the most important factors for learning and consuming new information because the eyes are moving, repeating what we have done during the day. Rapid eye movement is when we learn the most of what we have done during the day, it repeats it while we sleep multiple times so it stucks in the long-term memory. Teenagers have been compared when they sleep and the one that sleeps the longest is the one improving its result in tests the most. Research has been done to teenagers and the difference between the improvements are significant. In some tests the one who slept the longest had almost double the result. This proves how important sleep is for teenagers and that they need it for school pressure to reduce. The adolescent brain `prunes´ parts of the brain which is not in use.

The adolescent brain reduces the parts of the brain which is not used. Teenagers brain focus on areas which they do the most and the parts that are not used as much is removed or reduced which make teenagers deteriorate in that area. If a teenager is very good in mechanics and does it everyday he impoves in that area but deteriorates in other areas which he does not use such as math. The brain does not have an unlimited amoun of space and needs to cut of parts which is not in use. This means the teenagers idea of that subject is reduced and they cannot do it as well as someone who has little math everyday. That is why different teenagers are good at grasping different ideas or concepts of things.

Perhaps adults should look back and see how they acted as teenagers. Different factors are all part of the development of the adolescent brain. Rapid eye movement sleep practises the activities teenagers do during the day and it improves the skill the more they do it. The pruning of the brain pretty much decides what teenagers will be good at in the future if they keep that activity up. Sure teenagers are unorganised, irresponsible and lazy. So let them sleep and let them do what they like so the next generation will be a better one than the previous one. Embrace the brave new world.

Great paragraph

Tired in the morning? Students do not have enough sleep and they have to wake up too early for school. Our school needs to adjust its timetable to the new research which says that teenagers work better in the afternoon. When students and teachers wake up 6.30 in the morning they are tired and lack concentration. Teachers become tired because their job is made harder and it affects their teaching.   It affects the early lessons and how students work and concentrate. It also affects the teachers since they have to endure students lack of concentration. If you change the timetable it will make life and work easier for both teachers and students. Students and teachers will sleep more and be rested when they arrive at school which makes teaching and studying easier. Students sleep is very important and it affects every teenager’s life and all their teachers.

(thesis)The article from the Guardian says that teenagers hide their real personal image to avoid trouble.(example)Anthony Cadien is one of the teenagers that hide behind a group to hide his real stereotype.(explaination) He is afroamerican and have been caught with weed two times. Afroamerican and weed is a stereotype which is considered negative in the society and Anthony came up with a plan to avoid trouble or suspicion. He started hanging out with the geeky kids and his new friends helped him in school. This would most likely make Anthony less likely to be considered the typical weed Afroamerican stereotype. You can't stereotype teenagers because they are all different

Idiom story

Once upon a time there was a man with the name Albus. He was an everyday man but he worked at a circus wich made him stand out a little bit. One day he had a performance in a small city on the country side. The performance was bothering him so he just wanted to get over it and go to rest. His performance went down like a lead balloon and the whole crowd was angry. The circus manager gave Albus the slip and let him go of the circus. Albus had a few savings left and decided that he would go for broke in a casino the small town had. Albus went from rags to riches. Two days of being rich Albus meets up with his old circus crew. His old friends see him with new expensive cloths and a new car that he just bought. His old friends goes bananas over him and it becomes a feeding frenzy over Albus. My sweet sixteen

Is this our future generation?
My Sweet Sixteen is a T.V show from America. It is a popular how about a spoiled brats sixteenth birthday. It is a bad show for teenagers. It can give ideas and opinions on how other sixteen year olds want their birthday to be like. It can make it hard for other parents to raise their children. It can have a long term effect on teenagers. It can give the teenagers watching ideas on how they want their life to be. It can give them ideas of demanding more from their parents and put pressure on parents. My Sweet Sixteen is a bad T.V show for teenagers.

Dear miss Greta

I am Rasmus from the first year of the IB diploma at Stonehill International school. I and the student body at my school have problems with the food at our school and it affects our lives.
The food at our school is very bad. It is the same from week to week and a lot of students have become sick after eating it. A lot of students from my grade and other grades are missing days of school because they got sick from the food the previous day. It is also a problem because some students do not eat in school and affects their focus in class and when they do in class assignments. The food need to change in order to make the teaching for the teachers easier and for the students to get higher grades.
I think we should hire a new staff or get our food checked by a food professional to decide wether it is legal for them to cook for us since the food might be slightly poisonous. This will most likely increase most of the students grades and make a lot of teachers happier when their job becomes easier and more active.

Letter to a friend
Hello mate
My summer was amazing, I met a ton of new people and it was a lot of fun. Even though it's not what I've been looking forward to but school started next week. It is even worse than last year because now the food is so crap I can't even eat in school. First time I ate it I was sick for a whole week and missed tons of work in school. I wrote a mail to the school department and I suggested change either in staff or in the system and I really hope it would go through. I hate this school sometimes and I hope they can do this for once.

Fanta and Coke paragraph

On a hot summer day, you want to be sure of the refreshment you are drinking.
Coca-cola is the world’s number one soft drink for a reason.
Coca-cola is my and most other people’s default drink.
Coke is perfect with pretty much any meal. Coke can be bought all around the world in every market.
It works to pretty much everything because it has a perfect amount of sugar which does not make it too sweet and does not make the food taste different because of the sugar. It has the perfect amount of ingredients which makes it work with almost everything. It is sold everywhere because it has become so popular that if a market does not have coca cola it is not a very good market. It would be a loss not to have coca cola because of the probable profit it would bring in to the market. Coke is the best drink for an everyday situation and can be used to most of the meal you eat everyday. It can also be bought almost everywhere which makes it not only good to almost every meal but also avalible to almost every meal.

Why would you settle for Coke when you can have a more amazing soft drink?
Fanta is more than just one of the most popular drinks in the world.
Fanta is way better than Coke.
The orange flavour makes it more refreshing. And you cannot find any website that says Fanta kills.
The orange flavor in fanta is a very popular natural flavor. Fanta is refreshing because of its naturalness and it keeps you fresh and active during the day. Unlike coca cola the Fanta does not have haters creating websites to stop fanta production. It is a safe product for you to use and fanta you do not have to be afraid to be seen with it in public. Naturally refreshing and keeps you active throughout the day. Fanta is a safe drink which you are safe to drink everwhere.

Chocolate war essay

I read the book Chocolate war by Robert Cormier. Chocolate war is about students from a catholic boy school. The school is ruled by "The Vigils" which is a group of older students who hand out assignments or pranks to do in the school for the younger students. One of the main characters Jerry Renault is a freshman and is given the assignment to strike against the traditional chocolate sale. Jerry is supposed to refuse to sell chocolates for 10days and then start selling them. Jerry instinctively continues to refuse the sell even though he wants to sell. Jerry's choice leads to serious consequences inside and outside school. He defied "The Vigils" and was there for punished.

The chocolate war is a great book which relates to what could happen in real life. In schools all over the world there are problems with older students trying to control the school or rule over the younger students. It is a common issue which I think is interesting. It is a horrible book but still it makes you think about other people and their problems and their life’s. It is not only you out there; there are other people who have bigger problems than your bike getting stolen. It gives us a broader perspective of not only those among us but also outside our range of knowledge to see how other people live like.

The book is also good because it is written in a language at a quite low level which broadens the audience. It is not easy to understand the concept if you read the book but the concept of the book is easy to understand. This story can be simplified and explained easily so it is a perfect book for those who might not be new to English but not have it as a first language. That is why this is a good book because it was easy and simple which made it a perfect book for us second language speakers.

The book was bad in the matter that it was maybe a bit too horrible which can scare some people off. It can affect people or give people ideas of what they can do and how they can do it. It could create problems for other people in schools where they before did not have that kind of problem. A lot of people could misinterpret the book and may be thinking that the book is correct that you should do this and that.

The book overall is a fantastic book but something must always have a downside. It is good in the manners of how it is written and presented and a simple story made complicated. Everything can be misinterpreted but this topic especially can give other bullies or those who believe they could be bullies. Because they feel they are like Archie or any other character from the book would give a bad side of the book because they could repeat what they did or try to do something similar.

Chocolate war

Chapter 1-13
The chocolate war starts with Jerry Renault trying out for the football team. He’s not a guy cut out for sport but the coach sees determination in Jerry and gives him another shot the next day.  Obie, tired of Archie, Obie both hated and admired Archie. Archie is the leader of the vigils, the assigner. He is the one assigning people with cruel assignments. Obie and Archie are deciding who should carry out their next assignments. Obie got his notebook which is well informed, even better than the school files. They chose ten people; two of them are the Goober and Jerry Renault. The goober was assigned to Brother Eugene’s room. Jerry whose mother just died from cancer was assigned to chocolates. Archie and Brother Leon discuss the upcoming chocolate sale. Archie agrees to help with the chocolate sale as the leader of the vigils even though none speaks of the vigils. The Goober is called by the vigils to receive his assignment. Carter a tough guy and who is the president of the vigils. Goober’s assignment is to enter Brother Eugene’s classroom at night and unscrew all the desks and chairs so the screw is about to fall off. After the assignment has been given out Archie has to pick a marble out of the black box. Every time and assignment is given out the leader has to pick a marble; there are 5 white marbles and 1 black. If the leader picks the black marble he will have to carry out the assignment himself but Archie is lucky and picked a white marble. Brother Leon takes up a student in is class to stand in front of everyone. Leon accuses Bailey; smartest kid in the grade is accused of cheating. In the end Leon turns the moment and blames the students for not siding with Bailey and helping him support his innocent. Archie sees Emile siphon gas out of Carlson’s truck. They talk for a moment and Emile asks about the picture Archie took. The Goober carrying out his assignment, he has been unscrewing for six hours. He thought for himself that he would never finish but then help arrives when about 6 people come to help him unscrew the rest. Jerry thinks about his mother’s death and how his father was affected by her death. He is watching his father sleep and when he wakes up he asks how his dad was. He wants his father to tell him about something interesting in his life but he gets nothing out of it. He does not want to become like his father, he wants more. The assignment in Brother Eugene’s room finally occurs and Brother Leon directly understands that the Vigils were behind this. Brother Leon furiously confronts Archie and violently pushes him against the wall. Brother Leon embarrassing Archie in front of a big crowd of students. It is time for Jerry’s tryout and they get to tryout against the real football team. It takes a few tries before Jerry gets a pass through up to Goober who scores a touchdown. After the practice Jerry finds a note which informs him that he will receive his assignment now. The chocolate sale has begun and it is the first day of roll calls. Brother Leon asks for how many they have sold and they reply. When Brother Leon gets to Jerry he says “no”. Brother Leon upset of the fact tries to convince Jerry to change his mind but still gets a strict “no”. Everyone shocked, even Jerry’s best friend Goober.
14-25
Another roll call and the whole class is tense, waiting for Brother Leon to reach Renault. It is the same as the day before “no” and Goober sees the trembling in Brother Leon’s hands. Two students is desperately trying to sell chocolate; one to buy his girlfriend a bracelet for her birthday. The other one just hates his house and will do anything to get out of it, even if it means to sell chocolate. Archie and Emile meet again whereof this time they talk about the photo. Emile asks for the photo but Archie wants something in exchange. The photo doesn’t really exist, Archie accidently walked into the bathroom and found Emile masturbating and Archie pretended to take a picture. Of course Emile didn’t know he was just pretending.   The vigils are delivering another assignment to a Rollo. Rollo is not afraid of the vigils and is mocking the vigils for not being able to control the situation with Renault. Rollo gets beaten up by Carter for his stupid comments and is carried outside. The vigils then realize what the whole Renault problem has caused and know that they have to fix this. Obie found a poster as truth to this “Screw the chocolate and screw the vigils” and they know his betrayal has spread like a dieses. Archie comes up with a plan to make it cool to sell chocolate and make Renault look bad in front of everyone else. At football practice it goes as normal until he receives and tackle and punches after he tackled Carter. He knew it wasn’t carter because he saw him the whole time. At home he wondered who it was and then someone calls. He hears laughing on the other side and he tries to reply but none answers. It kept going throughout the whole night. The next day when Renault opens his locker his poster has been sabotaged and his gym shoes slashed. He knows that someone is trying to tell him something; the tackle, the phone calls and now the locker. At art class his teacher asks about an assignment that he had to give in today. Renault replies that he gave it in yesterday on his desk. The teachers haven’t seen it but he said he would look for it. The chocolate sells have rapidly increased and nearly all the chocolate boxes had been sold. It was word that the vigils were behind the sale and that they had been selling for other people. The Goober feels sorry for Renault and thought it would help if he stopped selling too. It was already too late; the vigils had sold the rest of his boxes for him. When Renault was on his way home he meets up with Emile, Emile tries to provoke Renault and succeeds quite well. Renault then gets assaulted by Emile and some small creatures. He vomits and they finally go off him, Renault goes home and takes a bath. He hears the phone ringing and answers; it is the same prank callers. He hears that the sound is echoing and then notices that the sound is coming from the outside too. When Renault’s father comes home he asked if he knows who it is and Renault decides not to tell him. His father puts the receiver off the hook. Archie asks Emile how the beating and provoking went on Renault. Archie finally tells Emile that the picture never existed and Emile was impressed. When Renault comes to school he feels like he doesn’t exist. His locker has been cleaned out as if he never existed and none notices him not even the teachers. Eventually someone pushes him in the stairs and he hears laughter behind him. Archie has planned to have a raffle tomorrow at the stadium to settle with Renault. The stadium is filling up and the students are buying raffle tickets. Archie had manipulated both Renault and Emile to attend to this event. He had said that Renault could settle this problem once and for all. The vigils had set up a boxing ring in the stadium and the whole student body was placed on the bleachers. Archie tells them the rules and even though Renault is scared he can’t back down now when the whole stadium is filled with students. Renault and Emile have to fight according to what it says on the raffle tickets. The raffle tickets says who gets to punch and in what way. Before the fight begins Obie enters the ring with the Black box. Archie frustrated has to pick to marbles since there are two assignments. He has to pick one marble for Emile and one marble for Renault. Archie picks up two white marbles and he is lucky but still angry with Obie and Carter for pulling this stunt. The fight begins and they get to punch each other depending on the raffle tickets shown by the students in the audience. Renault gets the first hit but he misses it because of Emile’s provoking. The next few hits they both get good hits on each other. Carter unknowingly reads out a card which tells Emile to hit in an illegal zone and therefore caught Renault unguarded.
